Editorial Policies

As the official publication of the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations, PEO Insider is written for the educational benefit of professionals currently in, serving, or entering the PEO industry. As the most respected source for PEO industry information, PEO Insider is committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity in its editorial content and relationships with advertisers.

PEO Insider readers — PEO owners, managers, department heads, and sales staff — depend on the hard-hitting technical insight and factual information offered through our regular departments, columns, and features.

Articles are planned well in advance and are assigned by the editor. Our practice is to seek authors from within the NAPEO membership or in related organizations with specific expertise in planned subject matter. PEO Insider does not accept unsolicited articles. However, PEO Insider is always looking for authors with expertise in the various PEO disciplines. Please contact the editor if you are interested in sharing your expertise by authoring for PEO Insider.

PEO Insider Author's Guide

All articles must be objective, unbiased, and non-commercial. Articles are edited for sense, accuracy, clarity, grammar, consistency with PEO Insider style, legal considerations, and length. We also strive to preserve the writing style of contributors. However, PEO Insider editors have final editorial authority and reserve the right to request rewrites or rewrite articles when necessary.

Each article is accepted based upon its own merit at the discretion of editorial staff. Articles become the property of NAPEO upon acceptance.

Author must warrant that the article is an original work, that the author is the sole owner of the work, that the article contains no libelous materials or portions of other copyrighted or unpublished works without permission from the owner, is accurate to the best of his/her knowledge, and has not been published elsewhere.

Each author must sign an Author Agreement upon acceptance of article.

PEO Insider and NAPEO do not promote pricing, restraint of trade, or any other anti-competitive activities.

PEO Insider reserves the right to publish, reprint, and promote articles.

Editor can provide pdfs of published articles to authors who are members of NAPEO upon request. Permission tag line will be embedded in pdf. Permission to post electronically is valid for one year or as long as the author's membership is valid.

Format

Article length is determined when editor assigns articles. In general, columns are about 600 words, departments are about 1,200 words, and feature articles are about 1,400 words.

Microsoft Word documents preferred. No formatting is necessary.

Include the author's name at the beginning and bio (name, title, company, city, state, and pertinent credentials) at the end of the document.

Include a color photo of the author, if available, plus any pertinent photos, illustrations, charts, figures, tables, or graphs. Please send electronically in high resolution .jpg format. Please notify editor if any material is copyrighted.

Always keep a copy of your article electronically.
