NAPEO Gives Back

The NAPEO Gives Back initiative was launched in 2019 to harness the “Power of Many” in the PEO industry and facilitate community involvement and charitable endeavors. One of the key parts of the initiative is give back to the cities that host NAPEO’s Annual Conference & Marketplace and other meetings by making an impactful contribution to a worthy local charity that will make a real difference for the host city.

“We started NAPEO Gives Back to leave the communities that host our conferences and meetings a little better off than they were before we arrived. -- Barron Guss, NAPEO’s former chair and the driving force behind the NAPEO Gives Back initiative.

In 2019, the first year of NAPEO Gives Back, the association raised more than $52,000 for Anthropos Arts, an Austin-based charity that provides mentoring and musical instruction for low-income student. The money was raised through individual donations and the sale of raffle tickets and other items during the NAPEO conference.

In addition, NAPEO Gives Back included a number of volunteer and donation efforts involving NAPEO members and staff:

  • May 2019 – NAPEO Board members and staff served breakfast to several hundred homeless adults at SOME’s (So Other Might Eat) Dining Room in Washington, D.C.
  • November 2019 – NAPEO provided financial support to SOME’s Benefit Dinner & Silent Auction.
  • December 2019 – NAPEO staff assembled and donated 30 holiday care packages for homeless children through SOME’s Shoebox Gift Drive.
  • February 2020 – NAPEO Board members and staff prepared and donated 140 senior care kits to Council on Aging Care Centers in New Orleans through a partnership with Hands On New Orleans.

Although the pandemic forced NAPEO to move its 2020 Annual Conference & Marketplace from Marco Island to a virtual platform, the association still plans to rally as an industry to raise money for our 2020 charity partner, Our Daily Bread Food Pantry. Our Daily Bread started in 2016 and now serves more than 30,000 individuals annually, by gathering and distributing more than 330,000 pounds of food. Its base of operations is in Marco Island, FL, with various mobile pantry outreaches across Collier County, where one in eight adults and one in five children are food insecure.
