Organizations (NAPEO) President and CEO Casey Clark issued a statement in
response to Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Daniel Werfel’s reported comments on the
Employee Retention Credit (ERTC).
“Commissioner Werfel continues to focus his
public comments on the robust fraud in the ERTC program instead of providing
solutions to those small businesses that have been waiting years for their
legitimate claims to be processed,” Clark said.
“While those committing tax fraud should be
prosecuted to the full extent of the law, legitimate claimants cannot continue
to be held hostage to fraudulent ERTC claims. The IRS must expedite the
processing of claims by law-abiding, tax-paying Americans.”
