Marco Island, Florida — Today, September 16, the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO) presented a check for $79,140 to Marco Island, Florida-based charity Our Daily Bread Food Pantry.
Our Daily Bread Food Pantry started in 2016 and now serves the community by gathering and distributing more than 330,000 pounds of food. Its base of operations is in Marco Island, FL, with various mobile pantry outreaches across Collier County, where one in eight adults and one in five children are food insecure. Our Daily Bread is now serving an average of 10,000 individuals a month, up from just 2,500 before the pandemic. By the end of 2020, they are on pace to serve almost 100,000 with demand growing week to week.
NAPEO is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association representing the professional employer organization (PEO) industry which serves nearly four million employees across all fifty states by providing payroll, benefits, workers’ comp, regulatory compliance assistance, and other HR services.
NAPEO had planned to host its 2020 Annual Conference & Marketplace in Marco Island this week, but the conference was instead held virtually due to COVID-19. This donation is part of the NAPEO Gives Back initiative to support the association’s conference host cities.
“We started NAPEO Gives Back to harness the ‘power of many’ to make a difference in the cities we visit. As an industry, we’ve come together to support an organization whose mission is life changing for so many families,” said Barron Guss, president & CEO of Honolulu, Hawaii-based simplicityHR by ALTRES and NAPEO Gives Back Committee Chair.
“We are wowed by this tremendous outpouring of support by NAPEO and its members. Even though they just met us, they have opened their hearts enthusiastically to help our families in need and they have made a lasting impact,” said Liz Pecora, Vice President and Director of Development & Communications for Our Daily Bread.
“Our Daily Bread Food Pantry thanks everyone at NAPEO for their commitment, encouragement and positive example. NAPEO Gives Back has been a bright light in these challenging COVID times.”
